Now in Texas

Dec 5, was a bit longer than we wanted. We were on the road in good shape, stopped at a Flying J on the way gassed up and had breakfast. The gas prices, by the way aren't good, but better than expected $2.73 to $2.85. I had hoped the prices would be under $3.00.
Cruising down the highway about seventy miles north of Memphis, the wind started blowing. We went under an over pass and on the other side a huge gust of wind hit the side of the motorhome, tearing the awning loose. What a gust! When the awning blew open, it blew us to the other lane. Thankful no one was there!!! A fellow motorhome traveler stopped to help us. The wind was really blowing , but finally got it secured with bungee cord. We went into a truckstop a few miles away, where I bought some rope to make a more permanent fix. That nasty wind blew us all the way to Colton Mississippi. One good thing-- this fill up we got a 9.2 mpg, the usual has been a little over 8mpg.
We crossed the Mississippi River twice, once in Missouri and once in Baton Rouge. Much larger than it was when we saw it in Wisconsin!
Abby is already pretty much adjusted. After that first night, she has settled down and doesn't keep us up all night.
We have taken some pictures and they will follow at a later date. The weather today started out pretty chilly, but ended up in the 70's and is supposed to be nice tomorrow. We are in Beaumont, Texas headed for Victoria, Texas tomorrow. Hopefully, it won't be such a long day.
