We are still here! We have made many friends, and have really enjoyed their company. They seem to keep us busy each day either going somewhere or just hanging out. The Florida weather also has had its ups and downs. February had a couple cold fronts go through, meaning it got to mid forties at night, and would bounce back in the mid sixties to low 70's during the day. Our son Chris spent ten days with us. He came in on February 23 and left March 6. We enjoyed his company, and tried to make sure he got a taste of Florida. He got to sample catfish, grouper and conch for the first time. Nelson, Carol and Tommy stopped by on their way to Islmarada in the Keys. We had a great couple of days with them.
The days have been in the eighties, so we have been spending some time at the pool. I was invited to go fishing here on Lake Grassy. It was my first time on a bass boat. What a blast! We caught and released 16 large mouth bass. No big ones; they were mostly one and a half to two pounds.
Time sure flies and we still have many things to see and do. We went to Bonita Springs to visit Carols old neighbor, Joe Bluni. We spent the day with Joe and his friend, Sue. We went to the beach as well as visiting Lovers Key, and seeing how the rich folks live. It's hard to believe that Joe is now 80 years old!
The fishermen of the park had a fish fry- potluck dinner. They cooked 2700 filets of Crappie. That was the first time Carol and I had Crappie, and I must say it was very good! It was much like our bluegill. Then Saturday a contractor had a cookout at the pool. As you can tell, life is just too good here. We will both have to go on a diet when we get home! We just learned of a new Italian restaurant that is supposed to have excellent food. See what we mean??!!
Lots of folks are getting ready to head north. We now have six open lots in our circle. By April 1 this park will look like a ghost town. In fact, a good portion of Florida will bee less populated. The businesses in the area all say that summertime is extremely slow and guess that's why a lot of them just don't survive.
Monday we plan to visit Carol, and Nelson in Islamarada. Having never been to the Keys it will be a new experience for us. We plan to stop in Miami to visit the StreetBeast factory, hopefully to find some parts to improve our hot rod. Finding the place in Miami could be quite a challenge. We have talked about going on an airboat ride with Bodis which will be a first for all of us.
We leave Camp Florida RV Resort on April 7. We plan on spending time in St. Augustine, Savannah and Charleston on the way home. These are all cities that we have not seen and they each offer a lot of history for us to discover. So, right now we haven't set a date to be back in Lambertville. We want to make sure that all the "white stuff" is gone and not much chance to get any more!! Last year we were about a week too early!
