Our winter 2009/2010

Wow time sure flies ! Here it is middle of Feburary. Wish I could say we've been enjoying a nice warm winter, but that would be a stretch. El Nenio has brought us a lot of rain, and chilly days. Seems like it started the first of January. We had a ten day run of cold weather. We were able to put our flowers in our neighbors shed, and they survived well. The tomato plant is another story, we had it staked. and made a web out of string to keep the birds out. We elected to cover rather than tear all that down. Sorry to report that was a bad decision. We are suprised to see it greening up again, maybe it will have a chance to produce.

We enjoyed meeting up with our friends Bobbi and Harry at Ruskin, and then again near Ft Myers. We enjoyed seeing the Manitees that come into the warm water by the power plant. B & H introduced us to a place called the Roaring 20's . We really enjoyed the entertainment that was a wurlitzer organ, just amaising all the different sounds one person can play with that thing. We marked the R 20's as a must go again!

We have been to the Ellenton outlet mall where we found some nice buys. Nearby there is also a flea market that we enjoy visiting. We have visited four different fleas and each one has something a little different.

We met with B&H and returned to Thomas Edison, and Henry Fords winter retreat in Ft Myers .We enjoy making the day trips, there seems to be something new to see no matter where we go.

We went to Bonita Springs Dog Track. It was a very fun day, especially since Carol couldn't do wrong.! She won seven out of the thirteen races, and I won two, so that’s nine wins! We should have bet the farm!

We also enjoyed our visitors Chris and Bob Harrigan ,Carol Nelson and Tommy, and Carols brother Jim and Beth and their son Tom and his wife Janet. Our son Chris joined us fo ten days.

The winter was windy and cold. Cold meaning mid to high 60's during the day, but for a couple weeks in January we had some bad freezing, lots of crops were lost.

We had several get togethers either happy hour or cookouts. Wendell did his shrimp boil that was great!

We also went to the annual fish fry some of the guys donate crappies, this year we had over 3000 fillets. No one went home hungry! We left for home April 11th stopping off in Charleston S C. We enjoyed the tours and  the history! Took lots of  pictures and enjoyed some of the great seafood restaurants.
