Well here it is March 1st already! This morning was a mass exodus of snowbirds leaving for their northern homes. We didn’t do much this week. We did enjoy a 50’s & 60’s dance with a band called the Cruisers. They were very good! We met some nice folks from Canada, and S. Dakota. Last night we went to happy hour, then over to the Westlaco Elks for shrimp and fish. We said our good- bys to our neighbors. They left early this morning. We plan to stop in Jackson, Mississippi to visit them and see some historical spots. This will all be a part of our trek north via the Natchez Trace. The weather has been very nice mostly in the 80’s. Only a couple of windy days (they call them breezy!). Carol finally has one of the horses coming up to the fence behind us for carrots. Things are still very dry down here. We may get some rain this weekend.
On Saturday afternoon we took a trip back to Progreso, Mexico with Leroy and Sue Hall, neighbors from Wisconsin. Roy really wanted a pair of cowboy boots, so we put a pair of socks in my purse so that we didn’t have to rely on one of the Mexicans taking off their own sock this time! He finally had luck in finding a pair that fit him!! We found another place to enjoy the Mexican music, and two- for- one very potent margaritas. The margaritas in Mexico are definitely stronger than they are here in the States. Progreso was pretty quiet compared to other times we were there. They’re having Borderfest in Hildago and we believe that’s where everyone’s going.
Today Sunday, we went out to check out some of the other rv parks. We came back glad we stayed here. The wind today is brutal, and looks like we’ll have more tomorrow.
