We enjoyed visiting Chicago last year , so we decided to continue our visit this year. We stayed at the same park and almost the same sites. This park is very rustic, with only a fire pit, restrooms and showers. Grilling out is one thing , but building a fire in the pit , then cooking over the wood coals is truly something to be enjoyed! Harry and Bobbi brought ribs for our first dinner. Harry cooked them over the hot coals , and added the barbeque sauce just before serving them. They were delicious! I hope I made your mouth water, mine sure is! We cooked out every night on the wood fire and not as good as the ribs, but still good chow.
Wednesday we caught the South Shore train to Chicago. It takes about an hour to reach the Millenium Station, the end of the line. We took in the sights after having breakfast. We took a ride on the water taxi. It was fun to see the buildings from water level. We then had lunch at Portillo's for one of their famous Chicago hotdogs-- a very busy place. I had found it on the internet and it gave their Chicago hotdogs four and a half stars. It was good, but I would prefer Packo's if had to choose. Bobbi and Carol wanted to shop at Nieman Marcus, whew! $2200.00 for a pair of shoes, $ 1200.00 purse and on and on. Oh! well fun to look.
Thursday Carol and I went to the Science and Industry Museum. Much to see and we'll need to go back to see what we missed. That's it, back home Friday, and yard work was waiting.
