Our week of Jan 7

The weather has been great! Lots of sun cool nights. Days have been mid seventies, and the nights fifties and sixties. This past Monday we spent a good part of the day on S Padre Island visiting Harry & Bobbi. We ate dinner at the shrimp haus. All you can eat shrimp, very big, and very good.

We spent the next morning taking pictures of some of the murals in Harlingen. Supposedly there was one of Bill Haley, but we never did find that one.

We did spend a couple days at the pool. The town of Mercedes had an RV show. They had a good number of "goodie" booths, not many motorhomes, mostly 5th wheels and travel trailers. No, we didn't buy anything!

Today we picked up Harry and Bobbi and headed for Brownsville and then on to Matamoros, Mexico. Once again, we parked the car on the U.S. side of the border and walked across the Rio Grande into Mexico. Much different than Progresso. We took a free shuttle to the "market place" in town. Lots of typical Mexican stuff! Vendors were all trying to get us into their shops! We felt like we were definitely in the minority, being Gringos. Not much English spoken. We didn't buy anything, but did have an excellent Margarita before coming back into the U.S.
