Awesome kite competion

South Padre Island had kite competition this past Saturday and Sunday. We spent Sunday on the island. Did not realize what folks can do with those things. The pictures don't do justice to actually seeing the kites and their operators in action. The day was quite windy and lucky for us we were able to see the big kites too. Not long after we arrived, they took down the big ones because of the strong winds. It was amazing to see four kites being operated by four guys flying in syncronized formation to music and not getting tangled with each other! The day was a learning experience for us--very enjoyable!
We ate at the Shrimp Haus again. The "all you can eat" gulf shrimp was excellent. We wanted to try Dirty Al's, but they had an hour or so wait. We will make it to that restaurant before we leave--just because we HAVE to say that we've been there!
Today we attended a gathering with the folks that are on RV.net. Folks came to Victoria Palms from all around the valley. The forum is called Snowbirds, and Ron and Shirley organized the gathering. Folks like us that are here for the first time, as well as the ones that come here every year attended. They even had a band to entertain the crowd. There is just something doing all the time in this park.
