We are getting ready to say good-by to Gold Canyon (Phoenix area) and as of this post, we have not been able to locate that mysterious Lost Dutchman Mine. It will have to remain a historical dilemma.
Christmas has come and gone for another year. On Christmas Eve we had a very nice dinner here at Canyon Vistas. It is always interesting to meet folks from all over the USA and Canada and find out that we have lots in common. On Christmas Day we were invited to Penny's (Randy's wife) Mom's, She lives in a beautiful home north of Scottsdale. The meal was fantastic and the folks that we met were all super. It was very nice of them to invite us to be part of the family.
The one thing that we wanted to do before leaving this area was to take the boat ride on Canyon Lake. We had tried earlier, but the boat wasn't running. Guess there just weren't enough tickets sold. Canyon Lake is on the Apache Trail and is situated with mountains on all sides. We tried to get pictures to capture the natural beauty. I was fortunate enough to be the first to notice several bighorn sheep!!! They were just sunning themselves on the rocks. We did get several pictures, but couldn't zoom in enough to get really good shots of them. So, guess you will have to bear with us and really look for those horns!
As we wind down our time in this area, it has been quite nice to spend some time with Randy and family. We've enjoyed going to the grandsons hockey games. We don't think we will miss all the traffic in Phoenix; however, it certainly is a beautiful area.
Stay tuned--our next blog will be from Yuma where we will meet up with our Florida friends, Denny and Karen.
